New shoes give you a serious blister? Drain it only if it’s causing you pain, and never remove the skin that’s covering the blister.
Why do cute shoes always have to give us blisters? As tempting as it may be to pop it, don’t — unless it’s causing you pain. The skin that covers it acts as a natural shield against infections. If the blister is preventing you from walking, you may lance it, but use the following precautions. First, wash your hands thoroughly. Clean the blister with alcohol or iodine, and then sterilize a sharp needle by wiping it with alcohol. Gently puncture the blister in a few locations around its edge, and allow the fluid to drain. Do not tear or rip the skin. Apply an antibiotic ointment to the wound and cover with a bandage.
