Hi. I have paid a trainer to show me proper form at the gym, and told him I want to do well in (Hare Scramble) racing this year. It has been going very well. I feel stronger, better, and have a WAY better diet than I ever have, and probably the best shape I have ever been in. I will be 44 this May.
So I have been reading this forum, and I read a post about core training, and a link to a video by the MTN bike guy James Wilson. Well, that video, and yours and the Coach's comments have really turned me on to that guy. I think he is on to something.
My guy at the gym, who has been training for over 30 years, is saying basically "dont believe the hype" and to just stick with his (gym guy) fairly generic routines. (which HAS to be helping, but it is NOT moto specific, but he knows that is what I want, and is kinda tailoring it towards moto.)
My question, do I go for the MTN bike guys routine, even though that is not even moto? Or just stick to my local gym guru's routine.
I have contacted Robb Beams as well. Buy his program looks pretty advanced.
I am leaning towards the Mtn bike guys, but thought I would get your opinion.

Thank You.

ChrisP.

Can you provide a link to the MTN workout you are referring to?

Hope that link transferred. Looks like it did !!

Here are some of his goodies. If you have a few minutes, check out the "Endurance vrs Cardio" video. It has pretty much sold me on his stuff. I was just kinda waiting to hear what you said before I throw down my money.
Thanks.

I checked out the site and the guy certainly sounds knowledgeable to me. I agree with everything he is saying (in the "Endurance vs. Cardio" video) and think it relates directly to riding a motorcycle. I have always preached strength training and believe it directly correlates to endurance. Whether you buy this guys program or stick with your local trainer is really up to you. I think the one question you have to ask yourself is which program is going to yield the best results? Obvious question but only you will know the answer. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks man. I am gonna go for it !! One question for you though please Tim. If I have started my "generic" program (about 7-8 weeks ago) from the "gym guru", and now start this other new program, am I too late? My first race is May 16.
I wish I would have found this sooner. Oh well, better late than never I guess. :D

Hell no, your never too late to train and get in shape. You may not be in the best shape of your life come race time, but next year you will be. Don't sweat it and have fun being in shape.
