I race 2 or 3 hour harescramble in the northeast with a hot and humid summer I started to get heat exhaustion 3/4 of the way through my last race. I have been looking for an electrolyte replacement supplement to help on those hot days. Does anyone have any experience with Trace Minerals research electrolyte replacement products? All of the reviews I found seem to be positive. I plan to try them this week, taking some pills before and after some practice sessions.

No experience with that particular product so I cannot comment on its effectiveness. The best thing to do is try it and see if it works.

Look for unbiased reviews on the product from sites like WebMD, Livestrong, and other endurance sport websites. Endurance sport websites are pretty much medical experts :)

I assume you are doing all the pre and in-race hydration steps properly. Are you weighing yourself before and after you ride? Are you careful about your hydration needs 5 days prior to the race, etc, etc. Make sure you read this article on Hydration.

I don't believe I took hydration as seriously as I should have. But I do weigh myself before and after. And I have read most of your articles regarding hydration and nutrition. Thank you very much for all your insight and helping the sport on a grass roots level. I definitely couldn't afford to talk with professionals with every area you cover on this awesome website. Thank you It's very much appreciated.

I agree with Tim regarding hydration starting days before. Per and post workoiut/race nutrition could also be playing a part, especially what you are consuming the night before and the day of your race. If I remember correctly I wrote an article on the subject. Tim, if I am remembering correctly can you provide a link?

Thank you Tim! I wrote another article "What to Eat on Race Day" that may help as well.
