I have seen that Muscle Milk can be used as a meal replacement, but would you recommend it?

I don't think these types of products are commonly used as true replacement for a meal; rather they can help to augment the number of calories that you ingest in a day. If you're working out hard it can be difficult to get enough calories on board and this is when a product such as Muscle Milk can play a helpful role. Read the label though and make sure that not too many of those calories are coming from sugar!

Best,

Dr. Dale Macdonald

No matter what is claimed through marketing, the only items that work to improving your overall health, speed and endurance is real raw foods. As doc mentioned, anything other than real food needs to be viewed as a supplement to your healthy eating habits. As a rule of thumb, shop ONLY around the perimeter of your local grocery store and you will clean up your eating by 95%. If you would like some meal and snack suggestions, please let me know and I will add you to my weekly list of riders that receive a weekly email outlining meals and snacks (only for idea generating ways to change up you’re eating).

Sorry, I should have also asked this earlier, but is it true that excess protein will be stored as fat? I have also heard that too much will leave the body as waste.

Too many calories (from any source: carbs, protein or fat) can be stored by the body. Too much protein will be passed on as waste or stored - there are numerous variables that are factored into this exact process. How much protein are you currently taking in? How much training - on and off of the bike are you doing? The calculation of "how much" to take in is a complex process that takes awhile to nail down. Tap back to these questions here on the forum and we can work on narrowing down your needs.
