I just found the 19 week coach seiji program. This looks like the perfect thing to get me ready for the season. The only problem is I only have a month and a half until the season starts, April 1st. I have been training to the best of my ability although after reading the articles linked in the intro to the program it sounds like I have been working harder not smarter. I have been using my rower most days for a few months usually doing 5000 meters in about 19:30. I recently found the motocross concept 2 workout and have worked up to doing 6 sets of the 1000 meter rows and 25 pushups (great workout by the way). Other days I do a half hour on an elliptical. I've done very little strength training unfortunately but I plan to start now. I've also been eating a lot better and with all these changes I've managed to lose 20 lbs so far this off season (212 lbs to 192 lbs). Finally on to my question: Where should I start in the 19 week program. With the limited time I have before the season I am lost as to what I should do.

Thanks,

Andrew

If I were you I would just dig in on week 1. It's too late now to worry about or specifically prepare for the upcoming season. As a matter of fact, if you have been training too hard, this will provide a good little break to bring your training back into check. If anything I would say you can cut the initial training period (Anatomical Adaptation) down to two weeks. And possibly the second phase as well. Start on week 1 and dive in. If you feel you can progress faster, then by all means skip ahead. Just don't skip ahead b/c you think the workouts are too easy. If you take the exercises and workouts to failure they are all tough. Hope this helps!

Awesome. Thanks a lot. I did the LTHR test on Sunday on the rower and did the first workout yesterday. Tried to improvise on some of the workouts because I have limited workout equipment at home and didn't have a TRX. That didn't go very well but I was able to find a good deal on a TRX today so I should be good for the rest of the program. One question I did have was whether the stretching should be done in between the strength training circuits or after you do the 2 strength training circuits. The way the list is laid out it appears as though they should be done in between but I wasn't sure.

Thanks again for this great program.

I recommend dynamic stretching before and during the workout and static stretching at the end.
