I just happened to come across this interview with Aldon Baker from a year ago. http://www.racerxonline.com/article/bet ... baker.aspx
In the interview, Aldon states, "Obviously, they're not so much endurance athletes..."
This is something I have been thinking about a lot recently. What portion of motocross is endurance?
In Periodization: Theory and Methodology of Training by Bompa and Haff (2009), the following guidelines are given (with scientific references) for some sports that may be close to motocross:Sport Event or Position Phosphagen Glycolytic Oxidative
Cycling, 4,000m 20% 50% 30%
motor sports 0% 0-15% 85-100%
Rowing 20% 30% 50%
Rugby 30-40% 10-20% 30-50%
Soccer Halfback 60% 20% 20%
My question is: where would you put motocross in this breakdown? My initial (and of course uneducated guess) is something like this:
Motocross 5% 35% 60%
Supercross 15% 45% 40%
Thanks for the help!
(Sorry, I can't get it formatted nicely)
