I had a quick question to what the trainers think of the bicycle for your arms. I decided to use it at the gym on resistance 8/10 which wasn't bad just a good burn, I went as long as I could which wind up being 1000 revolutions at about 13 minutes I believe. One reason I did it was to strengthen my shoulder as I get my MRI results tomorrow for a possible torn rotator cuff. I have injured my shoulder twice this year without seeing the Dr (stubborn stupid no insurance me), so recently I have just been working out to strengthen my shoulder which feels better the day after a work out.

My main question is; is the bicycle for your arms a good exercise for motocross? Is this something I should always include in my work out?

I also have one more question, I became interested in doing Aerial Silks for strengthening and core strength, do you think this is a good idea?

If you plan to be a Motocross athlete for the long term you must address each injury appropriately.
Find a sports physician that will work with you on a cash basis(also look for a physical therapist), this may be a little difficult but there are doctors that will work with you.

Always follow a structured plan for injuries:
1. See the doctor for an evaluation.
2. Allow the injury to heal for the appropriate time and follow the doctors instructions.
3. Have the doctor prescribe physical therapy, then have an eval completed by the P/T. The P/T may be able to give you exercises to complete on your own and monitor your improvement.
4. Always follow the plan set up for you.
5. Once you have completed P/T and have been given the Ok to return to sport, go to the RacerX articles on strength and conditioning to get in optimum shape.

Note: some injuries may require surgery for you to come back 100% others will need P/T. Look at your career in the long term and do what is right for you.

I have never tried the arm bike only b/c I have never had access to one. But I cannot think of any reason why it would not be a good exercise for motocross.

The Aerial thing....looks interesting and actually the pike that she is doing in the very beginning is one of the more effective ab exercises. I don't however like the inverted situps she does. In my opinion, it puts way too much pressure and stress on your heart and head to exercise inverted like that. No real reason to do that when there are other safer (and more effective) exercises for your core.
