I know you may not be able to diagnose my condition, but I really need another good opinion. My doctor took some blood tests and said that he isn't sure what could be causing me extreme, constant fatigue. I have had mono in the past. Could I be experiencing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Unfortunately, the symptoms of extreme, constant fatigue are vague enough to allow for a whole slew of differential diagnoses....you're best to stick with your family doctor and rule out one thing at a time. You could also consider seeing a naturopathic physician as well; they often have a different angle of approach to compaints such as yours.

Best,

Dr. Dale Macdonald

GoonBoy,
This could be a situation where you are experiencing adrenal fatigue. Ask yourself four questions:
1. Tired, but cant sleep
2. Wake up at night with night sweats
3. Loss of libido
4. Craving of simple sugars

If you have one or more of these symptoms, you need to discuss with your doctor having a full blood panel drawn so that you can evaluate your blood chemistry. These symptoms can be addrssed with clean eating and if necessary supplementation. Get a copy of your blood work and let's discuss what it has to say.

My non-athete niece (17 years old) went through an ordeal last year that ended up being West Nile virus. Extreme fatigue was one of her main symptoms. doctors didn't check her forWest Nile for 4 to 6 months and then they finally found it. They had her diagnosed with everything from mono to Lupus and everything in between. The Docs were really scratching their heads. Make sure you are seeing a good family doc who is familiar with your history and keep going back if symptoms do not improve. Squeaky wheels gets oiled!

Thanks for the replies guys! I should have clarified more on what i am experiencing, but it seems like no matter how much I sleep, I feel the same the next morning. Some mornings I will feel wide awake, but as soon as I do something physical, I feel drained to the point I have a hard time even walking. I have also recently noticed that after I eat is when the fatigue is the worst. I am pretty good at limiting simple sugars, but I do crave them quite often. My doctor tested me for CFS, Mono, and quite a few other possibilities, but no luck. He said I have had Mono in the past but it is currently not active.

The craving of simple sugars has me leaning towards Adrenal Fatigue. Email me at robb3@earthlink.net, and I will provide you a 2 Week Food program that will stabilize your blood sugar levels and then we can see if your fatigue is associated with adrenal fatigue.

Just curious when was the last time you had a full panel - blood work completed?

Thanks Coach Robb! The doctors took a full panel-blood work about a month, to a month and a half ago. I actually have a copy of it if you would like me to mail it to you.
