I have read on here on how to get my LTHR and all my zones. But when I am out road biking should I use the LTHR for biking or from my LTHR from MX because the one form MX will be higher I would think. And also what is the problem with using an av max HR say of 3 or 4 rides to set your zones versus the last 20 minutes going all out as hard as you can. I tried to find this on here but might of missed it some where. I am in the 1st stages of seting up a training program for my off season(May-Aug) and trying to learn a lilttle more before I do. Thanks for all the help.

The lactate threshold test is specific to each mode of cardio. This topic has been discussed before so do a search on "lactate threshold" and let me know if you find the answer. But in short, you use the LTHR from cycling to set your heart rate zones for cycling, LTHR from rowing to set your heart rate zones for rowing, etc. You do not need to calculate your LTHR for motocross since it is not recommended to use heart rate training zones while riding moto. Plus, it is very difficult to determine LTHR while riding your motorcycle.

Great question and I hope this (along with searching the rest of the forum) helps!

Thanks Tim, I did do some searching and have learned a lot from this site. But I just could not seem to find that question answered on here. I was just unsure on what to set my zones at/for giving I was training for the dirtbike but doing so on the road bike. And I also read somewhere (not on this site) to use the avarage of max HR over a few rides to get you zones and this is what I have used up until a few months ago when I came on here and started reading all the sfuff you guys say about LTHR and the imporantce of training in the right zones and how to get your LTHR. Like I said I am just trying to learn as much as I can so i hope I do not make the mistake of improper training. Thanks again!
