Andy Cunningham: Hey Luke. What’s going on mate?
So you won your first title. Did you expect it or was it somewhat of a surprise?
Yea, i was confident I could do it but wasn't 100 percent sure until the first round, once I won the first round, I knew it was mine to lose.
So tell us about your season?
This year was phenomenal, couldn't ask for a better season. I've learned so much this year it's been really good. Now can't wait for the Supercross.
I know you are good friends with Chad Reed and in fact rode for his own team for a few years and both Chad's parents flew to your final race to see you win?
Yea, I've been really close with the Reed family for years, and it was great to have them there for my final round of the MX. They are an awesome family and Yea I rode for Chad for 4 years. It was awesome. He has helped me out so much with my career.
So what's next for you mate?
Well, got Chad's Supercross coming up soon, so really focusing on that at the moment and training really hard. I really want to win the series.
Perhaps you could give the readers an insight into what you do in a normal week?
This is between nationals … Mondays I usually have a rest day after the race and go to the pool and let the body recover. Tuesday's I do moto's in the morning, however much I’m told to do then go to the gym at night. Wednesday I do moto's in mornings and go cycling in the arvos. Thursday, sprint work, starts and then very light gym workout. Fridays and Saturdays I rest before the nationals.
Y our nickname is stick … why is that?
Because I’m small and weigh 132 pounds but I plan on adding a few pounds in the off season. I guess it’s an advantage on starts though.
Do you have any hobbies?
Yes, I like to run, spend time with my girl Logan
Definitely Chad Reed. He inspires me the most and he's my favourite rider by far.
I heard a rumor your pop does the timing of your laps and at 85 years old falls asleep and you end up doing 55 minute motos and then he denies it and calls you out. That's kinda funny h ey?
Do you plan on doing anything different for the upcoming Chad Reed SX series which is g oing to be huge here?
Not really. I'm just going to train my butt off and come out swinging at the first round. The series will be huge for
You are the hottest property in huge demand by all the teams here for next year. Do you p lan on staying or would you like to go to the USA?
My ideal plan would be to stay in
And finally Luke, who would you like to thank?
